Emotions play a crucial role in our daily lives, influencing our decisions and interactions. This app aims to enhance users' understanding and awareness of their emotional states. By recognizing and labeling emotions, individuals are better equipped to manage their feelings and express them effectively to others. Research indicates that the act of labeling emotions can reduce the intensity of negative emotional responses. When emotions go unrecognized, they can inadvertently dictate one’s actions and reactions.

The My Emotional Compass application provides a systematic approach to emotional exploration through a series of guided prompts. These prompts assist users in identifying and articulating the specific emotions they are experiencing.

This app promotes the use of detailed emotional labels, operating on a points system where more precise labels yield higher scores. This score reflects an individual's growing proficiency in emotional awareness and management. Additionally, integrated charting features allow users to monitor their progress over time.

Developed by Dawn Neumann, PhD, from Indiana University School of Medicine and the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana, My Emotional Compass is grounded in over four years of evidence-based research.
